World Smile Day 2014
World Smile Day was coined by Harvey Ball, who created the smiley face in 1963. The smiley was intended as a symbol of goodwill but as the years passed, Harvey became concerned about the over-commercialisation of his symbol and the loss of its original meaning. He declared that the first Friday in October would henceforth be World Smile Day, one day a year devoted to smiles and kind acts throughout the world. We launched its first World Smile Day celebration campaign in 2014.
